Code of Practice for PFR

With the introduction of the Code of Practice for Property Flood Resilience (PFR), a standardized framework is now available for implementing flood protection measures in properties, providing clear guidelines for professionals and property owners on how to best design, install, and maintain flood resilience features, aiming to minimize damage caused by flooding and expedite recovery processes when a flood occurs; this code is typically used by builders, surveyors, and homeowners to ensure quality and consistency in PFR solutions across different properties.

Key points about the PFR Code of Practice:

Developed by CIRIA:
The Construction Industry Research Information Association (CIRIA) is responsible for creating and maintaining the PFR Code of Practice.

Standards and Guidance:
The Code outlines specific standards that need to be met when implementing PFR measures, along with detailed guidance on how to achieve them.

Six Stages of Delivery:
The Code typically covers six key stages in the PFR process: hazard assessment, property survey, options development, construction, commissioning and handover, and operation and maintenance.

Benefits for Property Owners:
The Code provides confidence to property owners by ensuring they receive professional advice and quality products when implementing flood resilience measures.
